160 tons of contribution to the "Zero Waste" project
Within the scope of the Zero Waste Project, 160 tons of recyclable waste was collected in 14 months in the main service building of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
According to the information received from the Ministry, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's wife under the auspices of Emine Erdogan's Zero Waste Project launched in 2017 nationwide announcement, dissemination of public awareness in this direction, more effective, systematic efforts conducting studies and continues to be implemented in Turkey. Since the implementation of the project, 14-month data obtained from the main service building of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization were shared.
160 tons of waste saved into the economy
Accordingly, since the project started in the main service building of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, 160 tons of recyclable waste was collected separately at source and brought into the economy. With the project, 103 tons of paper and cardboard were re-used so far, preventing the cutting of 1,751 trees, and the recycling of 33 tons of plastic waste, saving 538 barrels of oil. In addition, 6 tons of glass waste, 6.5 tons of metal waste, 5.6 tons of organic waste, 2.3 tons of food waste, 2 thousand 960 liters of vegetable waste oil was recycled. As a result of the gains obtained, 8.4 tons of raw materials, 617 thousand 267 kiloWatt hours of energy, 2 thousand 884 cubic meters of water, 45 thousand cubic meters of storage space was saved, 20.3 tons of greenhouse gas emissions were reduced.
Launched for the first time in the Presidential Complex
The project was first commissioned in the Presidential Complex and the main service building of the ministry. Then, with the Zero Waste Disclosure and Evaluation Meeting held under the chairmanship of Emine Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex, the works on the implementation of Zero Waste in Municipalities gained momentum.
Project In June, Turkey that played well to life in the Grand National Assembly and the TRT, 81 provinces in the Environment and Urban Planning Directorate, Karaman, Burdur-Bucak, Trabzon-Hayrat, Şırnak ve Ankara in 25 municipalities and many private sector organizations in the system as soon as possible studies on the establishment of the project are continuing.
